As part of the twinning of the City of Saverne with Binzhou in China, we had the pleasure and honor of welcoming the Consul of China, Mr. Ling, with members of his cabinet from Strasbourg.
Objective: To showcase the French art of living through wine!
First step: AIVA!
After a presentation of our Academy, we gave them a tour of our facilities, a glass of sparkling wine in hand. The quality of the infrastructure and the rooms dedicated to practical work, such as the tasting room, were unanimously praised.
This was followed by a wine tasting course given by Yvan Gerber, Professor of Oenology.
China truly has a growing interest in wine, and especially in our French wine!
After this immersion in the world of education, we visited VPCF (Vins de Propriétés et Châteaux de France), a wine supplier in the Grand Est region for major retailers. VPCF boasts 15,000 m² of cellars, 2 million bottles in permanent stock, and distributes over 8 million bottles!
Laurent Lanz, Purchasing Director at VPCF, made sure he could answer the various questions of our Chinese friends, while also giving them a tour of the winery.
Our expedition ended in the world of wine at a wine merchant's, with a visit to Valérie Destouches at Le Roi des Vins in Saverne.
Roi des Vins offers 3500 references of wines and spirits, fine foods, gifts… The Consul and his team were able to see the Sommeliers advising customers in a pleasant and professional atmosphere for the choice of a wine; wine is above all a product of sharing, which allows to establish strong human relationships.
In conclusion, we can say that wine is certainly a wonderful product, because it allows us to flourish in all sorts of areas, and to establish links with all the cultures of the world!
