Speakers

The speakers for this evening:

Melanie Pfister

Winemaker

Mélanie Pfister brilliantly embodies the new generation of Alsatian winemakers, combining family heritage with innovation. The eighth generation to head Domaine Pfister, founded in 1780 in Dahlenheim, she is the first woman in her lineage to manage the family vineyard. After studying agronomy and oenology, she enriched her experience by working at prestigious estates such as Zind-Humbrecht (Alsace), Méo-Camuzet (Burgundy), Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem (Bordeaux), as well as Craggy Range (New Zealand).

Her wines, such as the Engelberg Grand Cru Riesling or the “Mel” cuvée (a blend of the four noble grape varieties of Alsace), are praised for their purity, finesse, and ability to reflect the unique terroir of the Bas-Rhin region. Mélanie Pfister is today an emblematic figure of the Alsatian wine renaissance, combining tradition and modernity.

Emeline Machado

Wine Cellar Manager

After graduating from business school and working as a manager in large retail chains, Emeline developed an interest in wine which then intensified, leading her to specialize in this field by taking various courses, including the AIVA Certificate.

She managed to carve out a place for herself at Roi des Vins de Saverne, a wine shop which she eventually took over as manager.

Thanks to the quality of her work, she progressed rapidly and today she oversees five other stores in France.

Emeline embodies an example of success, both through the courage she showed in her career change and through the responsibilities she brilliantly assumed in her new passion: wine.

Juliette Lorho

Student sommelier

A graduate in political science and international relations, Juliette has nurtured a passion for wine since adolescence, which she decided to pursue by training at the International Wine Academy. This allowed her to approach this vocation with a more professional perspective and to acquire solid knowledge of wines and spirits.

In this context, she joined the sommelier team at Cheval Blanc in Lembach in February.

In the coming years she would like to be able to go abroad to explore new ways of working, for example by doing seasonal work as a sommelier in the best possible establishments.

Partner

Zoom in The Divines of Alsace

Since 2011, Les diVINes d'Alsace have been showcasing the passion and commitment of women in the world of wine with panache. Winemakers, oenologists, sommeliers or informed amateurs, they share the same mission: to make the wines of Alsace shine, here and elsewhere.

By blending tradition and modernity, these strong-willed women are breathing new life into a world long dominated by men. Their active involvement in managing the estates, as well as their collective energy, is bringing a fresh perspective to the world of wine. A collective that is challenging the status quo, all while cultivating elegance… in true Alsatian style.
