The wines of the Loire Valley are located in a exceptional region, ranked at UNESCO World Heritage, from Chalonnes-sur-Loire (Maine et Loire) to Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret).

The Loire is indeed characterized by a very great geological diversity and different climates !

Here are the different vineyards:

• The Nantes Vineyard : soil derived from volcanic rocks, with an oceanic climate that smooths out seasonal variations. The main grape variety is the Burgundy melon. Some names: Muscadet, Gros Plant du Pays Nantais…
  
  
• The Anjou-Saumur Vineyard : schist soil, with a temperate oceanic climate. The main grape varieties are cabernet franc for the reds and the Chenin for white wines. There you'll find magnificent appellations such as Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Anjou, Saumur-Champigny… 
  
  
• The Touraine Vineyard The soil is composed of tuffeau chalk, sand, and flinty clay. The climate is oceanic and continental. The main grape varieties are... Chenin and the Sauvignon (for white people), the side, THE Gamay and the cabernet franc (for the reds). Chinon, Vouvray, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil… are the flagship appellations of the region.
  
  
• The Central Loire Vineyard The soil is clay-limestone, with some flint. The climate is continental. The main grape varieties are... Pinot Noir for the reds and the Sauvignon for white wines. Appellations like Sancerre, Reully, Menetou-Salon… are the best known.
