Bernard Magrez, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, AIVA sponsor of the 2022-2023 class.
An atypical career path
Having bypassed the traditional school system and having no prior connection to the wine industry, Bernard Magrez is a passionate self-taught man who decided to "never give up." Earning a vocational certificate in woodworking at 16, he discovered the inner workings of the trade at 19 by joining a wine company in Bordeaux. At just 23, he founded his first company, William Pitters International, which would go on to create successful brands such as William Peel Whisky, San José Tequila, and Malesan Bordeaux wine, before selling it in 2004.
Bernard Magrez becomes the owner of the famous Château Pape Clément and thus begins a turning point to embark on a new adventure: the Grands Crus Classés of Bordeaux.

BERNARD MAGREZ
