The training

Développé en partenariat avec l'Université de Haute-Alsace, le Diplôme Universitaire de Sommelier - Caviste vise à répondre aux besoins des surfaces de ventes possédant une large offre de vins et spiritueux.

The job of sommelier-caviste covers a very wide field of action and requires a strong versatility and extensive general knowledge. This occupation requires both a cross-cutting of skills and a specialization in a particular field.

The training allows students to train themselves to manage all the operations of a product's life cycle, from its purchase to its sale, through follow-up. It allows them to acquire the knowledge and know-how to be efficient and operational in their future professional functions.

This diploma will allow you to become a qualified sommelier in a specialty store or in mass distribution. 

The practical dimension of the training will allow you to be directly operational in the labour market, or to continue your studies.

Public and prerequisites

The diploma accommodates, according to a quota workforce, students:
-In possession of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent,
-Or having at least three years of professional experience.

260 hours alternating lectures and directed work; The training takes place over a year.

The courses take place on the AIVA site in Landersheim. A part could take place on other sites depending on the land applications. The teachings are taught by teacher researchers and professionals from the wine world and from the retail sector.

The training includes a minimum of 22 weeks of practical internship in one of our partner companies.

In the course of your internship, you will receive a monthly allowance of €800 minimum.

It will be possible to carry out this internship on one or more immersion periods. 

If you already have a job, it is possible to combine the training with your schedule.

Trades and opportunities

You will master all the operations of the sommelier's job: buying and managing the stock, managing the department and customer advisor.

You will be recognized as a high-level specialist who can advise the client and as a professional in the profitable management of a wine and spirits department.
